OUR STORY.
My dad’s name is Adolfo, but growing up in the Dominican Republic, he was AdolFITO, or lil’ Adolfo. The name “Fito” stuck, following him into adulthood as he came to the US at age 21, married my mom and helped his parents and six brothers and sisters build a home in New York City.
Passionate about food, culture and community, he aquired an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts and ultimately became Head Chef at the Brooklyn Hospital. A Daddy’s Girl until the end of time, I’d lay on his belly and we’d watch John Wayne movies, baseball and boxing. He taught me all about Mohammed Ali, Joe Frasier but above all to treat everyone with dignity and respect. Being of service was so important to him – as a chef, he fed hundreds of sick people everyday, and after retirement, he returned to the Dominican Republic to create jobs for the community and help those less fortunate than himself.
When he was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis, we hoped to slow the progression of the disease with medication but in a very short year his fight was over. Though I knew my hand-crafted essential oil blends couldn't cure him, they did lift his mood and allow him to enjoy some deep breaths as his oxygen began to decline.
After he passed, I incorporated essential oils into my acupuncture practice more than ever. Even as
I experienced the greatest loss of my life, I saw what a profound impact the oils made on people’s health and well-being. My Dad had always wanted me to patent and share my oils. He saw – and now
I do too – their ability to create healing in a hurting world.
The last line of the St. Francis Prayer reads “For it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.” It is in this spirit of giving, and in my Dad’s honor, that I bring Fito Oils to you. It is my hope that they will empower you to manage everyday stressors so you can live life to the fullest and let your light shine bright.
With respect and love,
